I've used four different languages to spell entertainment .Whatever the language it is the simplest meaning that can be given to entertainment is enjoyment. Every single being ,man or animal likes to enjoy.When referring to man's side of entertainment we can observe that man has entertained himself from prehistory to the present.When this theme is discussed with enough detailing any good observer concludes that from start of the Entertainment of the bygone times ,entertainment has developed faster than any other sector and has rapidly

reached the Entertainment of the modern era Through

music,literature,drama,sports and arts.

WHAT IS ENTERTAINMENT ?

Entertainment is a form of activity which has developed through time and culture for a long period passing different eras and resulted as modern enjoyment in different sectors like Banquets,Music,Games,Reading,Comedy,Performance,Storytelling,Theatre,Cinema and Film,Dance,Animals, Circus,Magic,Street Performance,Parades,Fireworks and drama.

Now, in the present "Drama" which was done on a stage with a visual act done by actors has transformed into "Tele Drama". All the other sectors have developed like Drama to be performed in Electronic media.

Banquets

Banquets have been great entertainment from the ancient times to the present. The ancient royals held Banquets to impress visitors from other kingdoms, to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, weddings etc.

Music supports many entertaining sectors like drama storytelling etc.. Music is performed in various ways like opera, orchestra etc. Music is a universal entertainment and it is of different styles. Music is also said to soothe mental stress and depression.

Games are played to get entertained or expecting a reward. Sometimes they are played online and as video games at the present. In tne ancient past people played board games and many other physical games. Games are played as teams or as pairs or maybe even individually

Performance (Theatre, music, drama )

Performance is done in various ways.performance is done live before an audience. this takes different forms like theatre, music,drama. Performances include operas, dramas, singing, dancing etc..

Circus, Magic

Circus is used as a mode of entertainment by all man. It is sometimes done on stages and also as travelling shows. This is a special type of theatrical performance involving acrobats and trained animals. this also done in front of an audience. Magic is also a section of entertainment in circuses.

Magic is also done on stages independently without circus performances using invisible trickery from hands and the other parts of the body. Magic also in stories and ancient literature. Magicians like Merlin has become entertainment for today's generation and has also been developed into films and movies .

Street performances and parades
Ancient man showed interest in street performances which later became a trend in the modern era and done in many eastern countries and also in european countries.This is done along streets where people watch and applaud. These performers do incredible things and show their talents.

Parades are also similar as street performances but sometimes done to a religious occasion or purpose or even to welcome a visitor in ancient past.

Bygone Times

Our ancestors entertained themselves through music, games literature, drama and arts.

though these criterion's were common for all countries their style was different and they fancied entertainment according to their occupation and choice.

You can clearly observe the arting up in the pictures are painted for gratification. Even some people chose occupations for their entertainment. famous architects and painters like Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci chose a lifestyle of entertainment for themselves and for others.

it is said that even philosophers like Aristotle and Aristarchus designed their models and discovered the inner science while gratificating themselves. As examples, in the revolutionary era of Europe man designed idols and statues of god which were half naked.

Music

Music is said to be originated in five musical eras, which gave an outcome of valuable inventions of music, these eras invented different styles of music and also instruments which were later developed and now used as modern instruments. these eras namely are ,
   1.Prehistoric
2.Ancient    (before 500 AD)
3.Early   (500–1760)
4.Common Practice   (1600–1900)
5.Modern & Contemporary (1900–present)

But under Pre-historic music only Ancient and Early music can be taken to consideration as they were made up of the influence of Prehistoric music

1. Prehistoric Music - Prehistoric music which means "Primitive music" was the period of the origination of music.
Prehistoric music was not invented after musical and sound experiments but were imitations and practices of sounds occurred in the nature,
   As examples:   Bird songs, Monkeys Beating hollow logs and hollow coconuts, pitter patter of water droplets etc...

During this era Music was used to announce special occasions and incidents and also was used for emergency announces among the prehistoric folk . The History also indicates that there were rare musicians who used music to attract mates or for sexual attractions.

2.Ancient music- Ancient music is developed by the cultures of the ancient man and a replacement for prehistoric music.Ancient music is the result of various musical systems in countries like greece,egypt,india mesopotamia,india etc.. it is said that the notation and the scale system was originated in the ancient era.

Early Music

2.Early Music- Early music comprises all music of western music and from the earliest times up to the baroque period.
Early music is classified into two,
1.Medieval
2. Renaissance

Games

Games were known to be great entertainment from the ancient past. Ancient folk used games to go beyond the normal physical activities of the day to day life and to develop their physical skills.Different games were played by different nationalities of the world. The History indicates that ancient man used animals as opponents of their games. Royalty of the ancient times mostly entertained themselves in public through games, not by playing but by watching fights among lions or fights among bulls and man. Games like dice games, tile games , board games were famous among the ancient man..

Literature

Literature was not distributed in the same notation throughout the world but each country held it's own literature history which brought the power of logical argument which lay within the ancient folk.Many literary texts have been lost over the years because of less protectiveness,disasters ,wars and the total extinction of some cultures with wonderful creativeness and precious knowledge of the world and the life in it.

Drama

History of drama is mainly referred to the western history of the subject. India,China, Japan etc.. of all the Asian countries too hold a great history about the nuance of Drama

History of western drama can be divided into five main streams such as,

1.Classical Greece drama 2.Classical Roman Drama 3.Medieval

4.Elizabethan and

Jacobean

5. Modern and Post modern

Drama originates from ancient greece which is completely proved by the Name "Drama" which is a greek word and gives the meaning 'Action'. Ancient Greek Folk Represented fiction in performance.This was done in the theater and later became an entertaining activity and was followed by many nations and groups of the ancient time.Romans too followed greece but did lots of changes in the theatre.Roman theatre was more extensive and varied.Medieval referred to europe where at that time mystery plays were presented on the porches of the cathedrals or by players strolling in the streets on feast days.
